Cooking Food: IELTS Speaking Part 1 Sample Answer

What kinds of food do you particularly like? 

I have a diverse palate, but if I were to pick a few favorites, I would say I particularly enjoy savory dishes such as sushi, pasta with rich sauces, and aromatic curries. The blend of flavors, textures, and the artistry involved in creating these dishes never fails to captivate my taste buds.

Palate: The sense of taste or the ability to appreciate flavors.

Example: The artist’s painting showcased incredible artistry, with intricate details and vibrant colors.

Is there any food you don’t like? 

While I am generally open to trying different types of food, there are a few that don’t particularly appeal to me. One example is organ meats, such as liver or kidneys. The strong and distinct flavors of these foods are not to my liking. However, I believe that taste preferences can vary greatly among individuals, and what might be unappealing to me could be a delicacy for someone else.

What kinds of food are most popular in your country? 

In my country, traditional dishes hold a special place in people’s hearts. Some of the most popular foods include rice-based dishes like biryani and pulao, flavorful curries with a variety of spices, and street food delicacies such as samosas and chaat. Additionally, international cuisines like Chinese, Italian, and American have gained popularity and can be found in many restaurants across the country.

Yes, I absolutely enjoy cooking. It is a creative and fulfilling activity that allows me to explore different flavors, experiment with ingredients, and create delicious meals from scratch. I find the process of preparing and cooking food to be therapeutic and a wonderful way to express my culinary creativity. Moreover, the joy of sharing homemade meals with loved ones and seeing their satisfaction is truly rewarding.
