Writing Task 1: How to Solve

Model Answer:

Dear Mr. Collins,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to formally inform you about my decision to discontinue my membership with the Brighton Athletics Club. I have been a premium member for the past year, and my membership dues have been paid annually, the last payment being made on January 5th, 2023.

Being a member of the Brighton Athletics Club has provided me with numerous advantages. The state-of-the-art equipment, coupled with the weekly training sessions and workshops, have significantly improved my fitness levels. Furthermore, I have had the opportunity to meet and interact with like-minded individuals, fostering friendships and camaraderie. The club events and tournaments have also given me a platform to challenge myself and gauge my progress over time.

However, due to unforeseen personal and professional commitments, I am relocating to another city next month. This sudden change makes it impossible for me to continue utilizing the club’s facilities and services, leading to my decision to terminate my membership.

I would appreciate it if you could guide me through the formal procedure for discontinuation and if there are any refunds or adjustments for the remaining period. I would also be grateful if you could ensure my personal and payment details are removed from the club’s database upon membership cancellation.

Thank you for the wonderful experiences and support I’ve received during my time at the club. I hope to rejoin should I find myself back in Brighton in the future.

Warm regards,
Taylor Stevenson
