Writing Task 1: How to Solve

Model Answer:

Dear Dr. Spencer,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to formally inform you of my decision to discontinue the part-time evening course on “Modern World Literature” that I’ve been attending for the last two months.

When I enrolled for the course, I was genuinely excited about expanding my knowledge in literature while working full-time. However, the demands at my workplace have recently increased substantially. I have been assigned a significant project which requires extended working hours and occasional late-night shifts. This has made it exceedingly difficult for me to manage my time and energy for the evening course. I often find myself either missing classes due to work commitments or being too exhausted to absorb the content effectively.

Given these circumstances, I believe the most responsible action would be to withdraw from the course for now and reconsider enrolling at a later date when my work situation is more stable. This will also allow another enthusiastic student to take my place and benefit from the course.

I would appreciate your guidance on the formalities required for my withdrawal and if there is a possibility of a partial refund or credit for future courses. Once my current project concludes, I am hopeful to rejoin and continue my literary journey.

I deeply regret this decision and the inconvenience it might cause. I want to thank you for your understanding and the insights you have provided in the classes I attended.

Warm regards,
Jordan Martinez
